Swim

Sometimes it’s best to be a pair of hands
pushing towards the side and then you push
and if you do it right, a little rush
forward that isn’t you. The water stands

level before, around you, as you glide
a second, then you push and also kick,
and if you push too hard you might be sick
but it feels good right now. I can’t decide

which is the best – the slow and steady pace
with which your body moves. Sometimes you think
so well and clearly, sometimes thoughts just sink
into oblivion. Rain on your face

is hardly noticed. Sometimes swimming is
work, prayer, thought, meditation. Also bliss.

I swim 2-3 times a week now and this is so true. πŸ˜€

    Absolutely: yes.
I miss swimming (chest infection). I especially miss swimming outdoors – “rain on your face”, mmm.
